Our beef, lamb, pork and poultry are all sourced from farm-assured producers and wholesalers ensuring animal welfare is a high priority. We aim to keep the food miles to a minimum using our local markets where possible and we guarantee great taste supported by our quality delivery and service.

Beef

We invest time in our beef to ensure that it is as fully flavoured and as tender as possible. And we can be flexible. We have hospitality customers who require up to 42 days to produce some of the very best sirloin available.

Lamb

The Lake District fells are well known for the finest sheep flocks and we think Cumbrian lamb is the best in the business. We farm our own lamb as a source and our butchery creates traditional cuts or special products on request. 

A bit like beef, we think lamb needs time for the flavour to settle and develop resulting in a great taste.

Plumgarths produce some of the finest burgers and sausage we have ever tasted and the salt marsh lamb is a true showcase of the best in Cumbrian and Lancashire products. It’s a pleasure working with the Plumgarths team and long may the relationship continue.

Pork

Our pigs are sourced from producers who really care and we’ve built up connections with farmers and wholesalers who supply pork produced to the highest standards creating the wonderful flavour that we expect. From gorgeous joints to beautiful belly, pork from Plumgarths is as succulent as possible and full of flavour.

We are very proud of our range of premium sausages, including our best kept secret, Plumgarths award-winning traditional Cumberland sausage. This is made by hand to an age-old recipe and can only be produced here in Cumbria – it really is the taste of the Lake District!

 
 

Poultry

All our poultry is sourced from Frank Bird at Langwathby near Penrith so, if it’s not Cumbrian born and bred, it’s pretty close! We understand that excellent animal husbandry and reliable provenance is important to our customers and we also know how much those things contribute to the quality of the meat.

We can supply trussed whole birds as well as a range of chicken cuts and, of course, poultry comes into its own with our Christmas selections.
